The “National Library of Greece Transition to the SNFCC” Project: Α donation of Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to the National Library of Greece (NLG)

Since August 2016, Friends & Patrons of the SNFCC are responsible for managing and implementing the significant donation of the SNF to the NLG, amounting up to € 5.000.000, in view of the NLG’s relocation to the SNFCC in 2018.

It is a substantial project aiming at the reorganization, modernization and development of the National Library’s collection and the services it offers.

It is a great honor for the Friends & Patrons of the SNFCC to contribute to the fulfillment and implementation of such a great donation that will “redefine” the position of the institutional role of the National Library and its resonance to the general public.

This particular donation finances and develops projects in 5 areas:

• The processing and expansion of the NLG’s collections
• The upgrading of the Library’s digital services
• The creation of the Lending department
• The solicitation of visitors-public audience
• The further training of the Library’s staff
